SPARE CHANGE, a 5 minute movie, was originally made for a contest where you don't know what you are going to shoot until you show up! At midnight a title is handed out (In this case, "Spare Change") and In just 24 hours director Evan Seplow and his team had to concept, write, shoot, and edit the entire film!

Instead of going with a standard “A bum on the street is trying to collect Spare Change” concept, Evan decided on a 1930’s screwball comedy. Shot in classic high key black and white with color effects added for the sparkling money, this screwball romp takes advantage of lines such as “Stop on a dime” and "Penny for your thoughts.”

The story follows Penny Pinching Charlie as he enters the home of his girlfriend’s family. Alone for a moment he spots a penny on a table and snatches it. Before long it’s like Pennies from Heaven and he is grabbing up all the loose change he can find. But little does he know that his Penny Ante antics ain’t worth a Plug Nickel. Because this Funny Money will get him in more trouble than a Two-Bit Criminal like him expects! Yes, poor Charlie get’s Nickel and Dimed to Death!

This was a fun film to make and hopefully you’ll enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making it - in one day!
